The short version
Sh*tty Horoscope asks you three questions once — when you were born, what time, and where — and writes every reading on your phone using Apple's on-device model. We don't have an account for you, a server for your readings, or any way to see them. We collect nothing.
What we don't collect
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No readings. Every horoscope is generated and stored on your device. None of it is ever sent to us.
- No analytics, no crash reporting of our own, no advertising identifiers, no tracking of any kind.
- No third-party data collection of any kind.
What stays on your device
- The three answers from setup: your birth date, birth time and birthplace. Only the birth date is actually used, to work out your sign — the other two are asked because real horoscope apps ask them.
- Your readings, one per day per section, written the first time each is needed and never rewritten after that. Stored in the app's private storage, keyed by date and section.
The model
Every reading is written by Apple's on-device language model, running entirely on your iPhone. Nothing about you — your birth details or anything else — is sent to Apple or to us for this. It can produce something odd, wrong, or repeated; that is more or less the point of the app.
Purchases
Sh*tty Horoscope's paid tier is sold through Apple's App Store, one-time or subscription as offered at the time. Apple handles the payment and knows about the purchase; we receive no personal information from it. Restore Purchases asks Apple whether your Apple Account owns it. Refunds are handled by Apple.
Data retention
Your answers and readings stay on your device until you delete them or delete the app. We hold nothing, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and laws such as California's CCPA, you have rights over personal data an organisation holds about you: to access it, correct it, delete it, and object to its use. Sh*tty Horoscope is built so that we hold none. If you believe we hold any data about you, write to us and we will answer within 30 days. If you are in the UK you may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, to your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident: we do not sell or share your personal information, and never have — there is nothing here to opt out of.
Children
Sh*tty Horoscope is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
Security
Your answers and readings are protected by your device's own security: the passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and Apple's data protection.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use Sh*tty Horoscope after a change means you accept it.
